Karyn is a seasoned educator with over 20 years of experience designing and teaching courses at institutions including Johns Hopkins University and the National University of Singapore. She founded Footprints Student Care to build a learning environment that doesn't feel like ‘more school’, one where flexibility, critical thinking, and personal growth matter just as much as academic results.

An experienced researcher and author, Karyn has written books, journal articles, and newspaper commentaries, bringing an evidence-based lens to how children learn best. Her research and teaching have been recognized with fellowships and multiple prizes at Johns Hopkins, accolades that paved the way for her to develop international programs in global leadership and education, bringing students to cities such as New York and Tokyo. Having herself attended an American school from elementary through high school, she understands firsthand how formative these years are, and is passionate about nurturing that same curiosity in children today.

Beyond her work in education, Karyn cares deeply about people and community, currently serving at a prominent precinct association in Singapore in her day role. She also teaches children’s classes at her church, including on mission trips, a natural extension of her lifelong belief in nurturing every child with a caring, values-rich foundation. This conviction shapes her vision for Footprints Student Care: a place where children are equipped not just to succeed, but to run life's long race well, grounded in good values, curiosity, and care for others.
